The History of Rowdy Rascals

 Rowdy Rascal is an ever-growing learning center with one location and seven classrooms with students ranging in age from 2 weeks of age to 13 years old. We strive to accommodate Southwest Ohio families with the quality care they deserve. 

Rowdy Rascals was created in 2009 during a time when a hard-working single mother of three who was battling health concerns was dissatisfied and frustrated time and time again with the care her children received. 

She tried in-home care, where her kids received no education or boundaries. They were allowed to watch television for hours at a time, eat junk food, and come home consistently losing confidence and being bullied. Her children were showing many unwanted, learned behaviors that were becoming more aggressive. She moved to an educational in-home care arrangement, that pushed for achievements and tons of work that was not age appropriate and her children lacked confidence in even trying new things. 

She next enrolled her children into a popular childcare center that she could barely afford, but thought, “you get what you pay for”. This seemed to be more structured, but it was not as educational as they led on, and the turnover of the facility was egregious as she met new teacher after new teacher within just a month. Her children came home complaining they never did anything and told many stories of other children with disruptive behaviors from other students. The center was child-based, not family oriented. They were worried about filling openings and not maintaining and holding relationships to retain families or employees. The kids were just numbers, and the parents were just a paycheck. There were no parent-teacher conferences or even conversations. She felt unheard, and unimportant. She was at a point where she felt lost. How could she make their lives better? Surely, she wasn’t the only parent who felt like their kids deserved more… 

With a background in early childhood education, she did the math, created a business plan, transitioned her job as a police officer, and began to build a brand that provided some of the most sought-after care in the area. By 2015, Rowdy Rascals LLC was officially created and has grown into the wonderful in-home educational playcare center it is today. 

Over the last ten years, 55 families have been provided with support, education, and a loving relationship from Rowdy’s. Many still to this day, cherish and maintain that family bond that was formed years ago, even years after their child(ren) have grown out of their care. Over 110 children have been cared for, given a prestigious education, and received the best love and care another could provide outside of the close immediate family. 

Here at Rowdy Rascals, we pride ourselves on the human aspect of being a community. Truly giving time and resources to help our families be the best they can be because their problems are our problems, and their children’s needs are our needs. We unitize our sense of community and step up when others simply won’t.
